GOOD NATURAL HAIR CARE BOOK....

As salaamu alaikum & Hello,   I am looking to purchase and read some of the great natural hair care books that are on the market.   Lately, I have been very, very interested learning more and more on the growth pattern , proper care , etc... in the way of  natural hair.

I know that there are some fabulous natural hair care books out .  I'm just not completely sure on which ones are really worth buying.  I am not looking to purchase a book in which it's going to pretty much tell me the basics.  Things that I already know ...I'm looking to buy a book that may include that ...plus much more.

So, if any of you ladies ...know of a really great natural hair care book.....please let me know !

Until, next time...Take care ,and.....

                                                                             ENJOY!!!

This really reminds me that I need to start dishing out more reviews on natural hair books that I've read. While I have purchased some books, most of the ones I've read I checked out from my local library.

One book that was not available from my library that I once considered purchasing was Nappturosity. I haven't really heard reviews on the book but the description makes it seem like this book goes beyond the basics of natural hair care. I just couldn't see paying $27 for a book and being disappointed if I didn't like it.

@ Callalily... Please do , I am really interested in buying a few. And I would trust your advice in which ones you found worthy.

You, know checking them out...at the local library is a very good idea...especially since I take my children there weekly...I will search a few out.

Nappturosity...I will research this one as well. Yes, I'm with you on paying for a book in that price range...just to recieve the very basics.

If you know of any , that you have in fact read, and you found to good, and worth buying. could you share with me the names of the books ?

Thank you so much for responding and sharing. This was very helpful. And as always ...thanks for stopping by, its always a pleasure ( smiles)
Take care.

Off the top of my head, I know I really liked "Thank God I'm Natural", "Don't Go Shopping for Hair Care Products Without Me" and "Naturally Healthy Hair". I purchased those. You can check the info on Amazon for more details to see if that is what you are looking for since most times you can view sample pages.

I checked the website for Nappturosity and they do offer a money back guarantee.

I'm co-signing with CallaLilly on "Thank God I'm Natural". Although its only the 2nd natural hair care book that I've read, I loved it because it breaks everything down and can be used by natural heads at any level. Definitely a worthwhile investment.
When I first bc'd, I purchased "Textured Tresses" and just didn't get it. At the time I felt like it went over my head. I just didn't like it. I still have it. If you'd like it, just send me an email and I'll mail it to you. You may like it. But I still recommend "Thank God I'm Natural".
Just let me know.

Hi, Zainab!
I highly recommend Hair Story," by Ayana Byrd & Lori Tharps and "Dreads" by Francesco Mastalia & Alfonse Pagano.

Both of these books focus little on actual styles. They're more educational, about the history/dynamics behind natural hair.

In addition to being informative, "Dreads" is a beautiful picture book. It's oversized and has big, detailed pictures of different dreadheads with their personal reasons/thoughts about dreads. I would call it a "coffee table" book.

And yes, I found both of these at the library, although I've since purchased them.

Good luck and let us know what you decide on!
