ORGANIC LAVENDER FLOWER...

Are all Lavender herbs the same?

In short - NO - they are not the same.
There are 2 main types of Lavender all belong to the Lamiaceae family or the mint family.

Lavandula spp. - aka - Lamiaceae (Labiatae) AND Lavandula Angustifolia - aka - English Lavender (L. Officiallis) although not cultivated in England.

The Angustifolia variety is known as True Lavender in that it's the only variety used in cooking, medicines and for distilling Essential Oils.

Angustifolia has a very strong scent and it's medicinal properties are purported to be much more intense & powerful than that of it's cousin, the Lavandula spp.

So when purchasing dried Lavender herbs inquire about the variety and make sure it's organic.

What's in it for YOU!

Lavender is great for all skin types because it balances sebum secretion, helps to soothe and regenerate tissue cells.

You can use it:

For Skin and Hair

In face spritzers to give skin a firm & smooth look & feel.

Used as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, cleanser, toner and detoxifier.
Used as a scalp treatment for itchy, dandruff, dermatitis, eczema, burns & insect bites

Effective in treating infected hair follicles, minor skin conditions, pimples, black heads and light forms of acne.
In a hot bath - throw in a handful. Lavender has a fresh, floral, light, powdery sweet scent that will fill the bath & refresh your skin.

Recipe Time:

Lavender & Honey Hair Infusion

Take a heaped teaspoon of dried herb(s) & put it in a big ol' mug or Pyrex jug.
Boil some water
Pour the hot water over the herbs
Let it brew for at least a few minutes
Strain the leaves with a strainer so that you only have the nourishing infused tea
Add a drop of honey to the tea and use as a final rinse on freshly washed hair.

As you ladies know I simply love anything natural and organic so here is ....Another great beneficial and helpful article I found... along with a dynamite recipe.  And I just looove the picture above, the lavender flowers are beautiful....I will be adding them to my garden next year , for sure...
