SKIN CARE TIPS FOR DRY SKIN...

Hello fabulous naturals!

As the winter is approaching us quickly, some may suffer from a bout of dry skin.  I have dryer skin on my hands , etc.  While my face can be a bit more oily.  I have declared this winter to be winter of learning to appreciate my body and take super care of it from inside out.  I plan to pamper myself more than often, beginning now:).  With that comes taking great care of my skin.  The number 1 rule to healthy skin is ...WATER, and plenty of it.

So my pampering will begin with lots and lots of water. Lets not stop there if you are like myself and suffer from dry skin from time to time you must figure out the source.  Normally dry skin is a result of low oil and moisture which is produced by sebaceous glands present in our skin.  Dry skin can also be a direct result of genetics, diet, nutritional deficiencies, environmental factors and utilization of excess of chemicals and cosmetics and also the use of harsh soaps on skin.  The best part of  pampering is all of the great homemade recipes you can have the joy of making.  I plan to add more pedicures, and more manicures, plenty of facials and lots and lots of long relaxing bath with plenty of smell goods , herbs , rose petals what ever I like:)

As you all know I am a huge ...I mean huge fan of making homemade products.  To go along with those great manicures, and or pedicures this winter why not try a few of your natural oils.   Rose or Chamomile oil mixed with a little avocado or even evening primrose oil, sounds great.  Rub this little number into your skin and it will help your hands and skin look and feel lovely.

But most of all remember WATER...WATER...WATER just as our hair loooves water so does our skin dry or oily , your skin will love you for it.  I guarantee it!

MY THOUGHTS ON CURLS ECSTASY HAIR TEA CONDITIONER....

Hello fabulous naturals!

Well as promised I have a few reviews coming up, but lets began with the "Curls ecstasy hair tea conditioner".  I absolutely loooove this conditioner, I have now tried both the curls coconut sublime and now the curls ecstasy.  I really like the curls ecstasy better, the coconut sublime is not bad, not bad at all.  But, the curl ecstasy seems to give me more.  This little number has some really great ingredients and includes soy protein.  Now, that I'm putting protein back into my regimen, I've come to realize because my hair is semi fine my hair doesn't need a strong protein at all.  Soy protein is a lighter protein and is recommended for naturals who have more of a finer texture, because of our texture our hair or at least my hair can't weather lots , and lots of the stronger proteins on the market.

This is another reason why this conditioner is my fave, with soy protein because it such a lighter protein it can be used weekly - 1x monthly, totally a matter of preference. It's pH tested at a pH of 4 which is great considering that is within the range of our hairs natural pH, so you know I looove that:).  When applying sometimes I add aloe juice and a tablespoon of oil to the conditioner for extra moisture. But then there are times I don't. To be perfectly honest using this conditioner alone is great, it really can stand on its very own.  Now onto the goodies...

They say:

The curls Ecstasy will Transform, dry damaged, chemically, processed or overly stressed hair within minutes. This heat activated deep magical Asian hair tea combines certified organic extracts, exotic emollients with vitamin packed botanicals to moisturize, condition, strenghten, and protect over worked hair.  If you have dry, course hair this conditioner is a must have!

Ingredients:

Purified Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Octyl Palmitrate, Behentrimonum Methosulfate, Certified Organic Aloe Leaf Juice, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearth-20, Certified Organic Ho Shu Wu Extract, Certified Organic Green Tea Extract, Certified Organic Chamomile Extract, Certified Organic Calendula Extract, Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Panthenol, Soy Protein, Citric Acid, Quaternium-15.

My final word:

My hair is not damaged, or chemically processed.  But, the way I look at it is that if this particular conditioner is greared toward dry, damaged hair this  always works in the favor of naturals considering our hair is on the dryer side, due to the nature of our hair.  I have seen a difference in my hair since using this conditioner. I have less shedding ( not a big shedder) but the hairs I did shed has certainly been minimized.  And, my hair just feels great since using.  The slip is much better (to me) than with the coconut sublime.  And, immediately while applying I can feel the difference...before sitting under the dryer on low setting.  And, when I came from under the dryer my hair feels like silk and very soft and moisturized.  The consistency of the hair tea is very thick, I like that in my deep conditioners.  I've found that the thicker the deep conditioners the better results, It coats the hair strand much better.  It has a very faint, pleasant, soft  smell to it.  And one of the very best points is that I can buy this little number at my local natural hair salon, owned by the lovely Shida natural from YouTube...luckily I live very close to her salon.  She sells a whole load of the  very popular  natural hair products.  That works great for me, I don't have to pay for shipping or the waiting period for the products to arrive:)

So in all I do believe the curls ecstasy hair tea conditioner is a keeper in my regimen.  I may revisit the coconut sublime from time to time.  But for right now the curls Ecstasy has the coconut sublime beat :).  Below I will post links to a few places that sell these conditioners.

LET ME MAKE MYSELF CLEAR....

Hello fabulous naturals!

Recently I received an email from some very unpleasant and quite frankly down right miserable folk.  Apparently, somehow... someone from... someplace, either did one of two things contacted these folk themselves or oddly enough they found AuNaturale.  I did a very beneficial little post that I FOUND repeat FOUND and innocently enough thought how useful let me share this with the AuNaturale family.  Now, whenever...WHENEVER I post something and it is not of my very own wording I ALWAYS link it back to the source and ALWAYS state that I FOUND it.  Meaning it is NOT something I wrote myself.  I never try to take credit for something that is not of my own...GOT IT!.

I find it some what odd that these folk just stumbled onto AuNaturale when it would seem they have ABSOLUTELY nothing in common with AuNaturale and what it stands for.  I innocently was simply sharing something that came to MY email box ,  I repeat MY EMAIL BOX so there for I was under the assumption it was mine to do with it as I pleased.  There was nothing to it but passing on beneficial info.  I am very aware of the copyright law.

I wish to never be so uptight over such trivial things in my life.  Life is way to short for this non-sense.  So, to the person or persons or WHATEVER if you are looking for trouble here @AuNaturale you have come to the wrong place.  This is a place where I enjoy SHARING, and allowing OTHER people to benefit.  What good is knowledge if you cant SHARE.  SHARING is taught in grade school.

If any of you find beneficial information here @ AuNaturale and you feel it will help others....Hell, feel free to share it.  I am not and have never been an uptight person.  I believe in help one help all.

Again if you are looking for trouble and go around scoping out blogs to be mean or mean spirited stay the hell away from AuNaturale, because I am not in any way into those childish games.  There is and will never be no harm intended coming from AuNaturale.  I am a very pleasant , loyal and friendly person.  If you are not please move on...and if you are WELCOME!...PASS THE WORD.

Thank you:)

BREAST CANCER AWARNESS....

Hello fabulous naturals!

As some of you may know October is breast cancer awareness month.  I say breast cancer awareness needs more than 1 month it's something that we must be aware of everyday, every month, and every year.  Breast cancer has affected my life as well as my oldest daughters life.  In July of this summer my daughter lost her grandmother to lung cancer.  They were extremely close, like best friends my daughter was devastated and continues to struggle with the lost till this very day.  However, my daughters grandmother had been a breast cancer survivor for 25 years....yes, that's right 25 years and it came back in a different form in the lung at stage 4.  She was a wonderful woman and a true fighter, all the way to the very end.

Her story and fight is what really , really made me want to become an advocate for breast cancer awareness, and the importance of women getting mammograms and being aware and familiar with our bodies just as we are with our hair so that we know when something is off, something is wrong.  Ladies, we must be just as passionate about our health, our survival as we are about our hair, our hair products , the ingredients we will or will not use in our hair products, etc.  Cancer in general no matter what type is a very sensitive subject for me , because it has affected me personally on soooo many levels.  I lost my mother to lung cancer when I was 22 ( I miss her soooooo much every single day), my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 years ago, and is currently a cancer survivor.  Then I was diagnosed with border line ovarian cancer last year.  I had a tumor coming from my ovaries the size of a grapefruit and didn't even know it.  Until one night I got extremely sick and had to be rushed to the ER.  To find out I needed  an emergency complete hysterectomy, They took everything.  This had to be done to save my life.  I thank my creator every single day , many, many times a day for allowing me to continue to live and Lovee. I am extremely grateful that I did not have full blown cancer.  Borderline simply means there wasn't enough bad cells to turn into cancer, Alhamdulliaah! ( praise be to Allaah)

Now with that came full blown menopause, I was in full menopause  at age 39 and my doctor had me began  my mammograms at age 39.  I just went for my second annual in September and everything came back fine, alhamdulliaah!(praise be to Allaah).  Although I am a regular checker of my breast, It is still extremely important for me to continue to get my annual mammogram and believe me I do not plan on missing not one, god willing.

I felt it important to share these stories with you ladies in hopes that it may touch some one who maybe afraid of getting their very first mammogram.  If you are.... there is nothing to be afraid of, grab a friend to go along with you for support.  My husband goes along with me for support.

Ladies if you have reached that age or are approaching it, just please go get your mammograms.  They are very important.  Below I will post an article that I found , to touch more on the subject...

Breast Cancer Awareness

The best way to find breast cancer early is with a mammogram. If you are a woman age 50 years or older, be sure to have a screening mammogram every two years.

Is breast cancer the most common cause of death for women?

No. Although many women get breast cancer, it is not a common cause of death. Heart disease is the number one cause of death among women age 40 and above, followed by stroke, lung cancer, and lung diseases. Breast cancer is the fifth leading cause of death.

In 2006 (the latest year for which statistics are available), 191,410 women were diagnosed with breast cancer, and 40,820 women died from the disease.

What are the symptoms of breast cancer?

When breast cancer starts out, it is too small to feel and does not cause signs and symptoms. As it grows, however, breast cancer can cause changes in how the breast looks or feels. Symptoms may include—

New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit).
Thickening or swelling of part of the breast.
Irritation or dimpling of breast skin.
Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast.
Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area.
Nipple discharge other than breast milk , including blood
Any change in the size or the shape of the breast.
Pain in any area of the breast.

What is a mammogram?

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. Doctors use a mammogram to look for early signs of breast cancer. Having regular mammograms can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer. If you are age 50 to 74 years, be sure to have a screening mammogram every two years. If you are age 40–49 years, talk to your doctor about when and how often you should have a screening mammogram.

Why should I have a mammogram?

Regular mammograms are the best tests doctors have to find breast cancer early, sometimes up to three years before it can be felt. When their breast cancer is found early, many women go on to live long and healthy lives.

Where can I go to get screened?

Most likely, you can get screened for breast cancer at a clinic, hospital, or doctor's office. If you want to be screened for breast cancer, call your doctor's office. They can help you schedule an appointment. Most health insurance companies pay for the cost of breast cancer screening tests.

How can I lower my risk of breast cancer?

Control your weight and exercise.

Know your family history of breast cancer. If you have a mother, sister, or daughter with breast cancer, ask your doctor what is your risk of getting breast cancer and how you can lower your risk.

Find out the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy.

Limit the amount of alcohol you drink.

Can men get breast cancer?

Men can also get breast cancer, but it is not very common. For every 100 cases of breast cancer, less than 1 is in men.
