~ FRUGAL FRIDAY " DIY ORANGE MULTI PURPOSE CLEANER" `

Hello ladies!

DIY Orange multi purpose cleaner is one of my must have, must use, must never be without multi purpose  cleaners.  I love making this cleaner, its super easy to make, my Family loves eating  oranges, it's cheap, it last a long time, it smells great, and it's not toxic! . So why not use those orange peelings. There are a few different ways to make this. When I came across the recipe I could not wait to make it and give it a go. I fell in love with it and have not looked back since.   Here is what's needed:

Ingredients:

1, 2 or as many empty mason jar's you like with a lid.

White Vinegar.

Cinnamon sticks. ( not pictured here , but I add them to my mixture)

Cloves (optional)

1 teaspoon of Almond extract.

Directions:

After your done with your  oranges. Store the peelings if I'm not ready to use mine right away I store them in a freezer bag and freeze them until ready to use. You want to be sure to only use the peelings , no pulp this will make your solution cloudy, and possibly sticky.

Add your Cinnamon sticks, cloves, and Almond extract to your empty mason jar. Then add your Orange peels all the way to the top of the Jar, next pour in your White vinegar making sure to completely cover all of your orange peels. I fill mine to the top of the jar with Vinegar.

Place the lid on the mason jar and give it a few good shakes. If the lid is not a plastic lid, place saran wrap over the mouth of the jar before placing on your metal lid.

Allow your mixture to sit from 2 weeks - 1 month. The longer it sits the stronger your cleaning solution. Be sure to label your jar, so that you know what's in it, along with the recipe should you decided to remake it.

Once it's done sitting . Strain your oranges. Dilute your orange vinegar mix before transferring to the spray bottle with distilled or purified water.  Maybe half and half, then you can add a few drops of sweet orange EO, if you'd like for that extra kick. This solution will last for quite sometime.

You can do this same recipe with lemons, limes, grapefruits. I have try them all, and I love them all ! With the lemons I add a bit of fresh Rosemary, with the Lime I add a bit of fresh Thyme, and with the Grapefruit I add either fresh mint or any mint EO.  They all turn out great!

I use this spray on everything, mirrors , windows, countertops, refrigerator, microwave. trashcans, etc.

So tell us  , have you made any DIY multipurpose cleaning solutions, if so do share your recipe with us here at AuNaturale. We love to hear from you.

As always thanks for stopping by,  have a great weekend. And remember to stay Naturally healthy and Natural.

This mixture sounds very strong, especially with all the acid. Did you have any trouble with the fumes? Was the smell strong?

Hey Kay,

No it's not strong at all. But it is best to dilute your mixture upon using with water so that it does not smell to much like vinegar, and adding the almond and cinnamon helps give it a nice scent when paired with the oranges.

I would also never combine vinegar with bleach or ammmonia I think there is where I would be concerned with fumes.

I have never had a problem with it being to strong or concerned with fumes of any kind. I honestly have never heard of vinegar being harmful.

I can say however this is a great natural cleaner.

Thanks for stopping by Kay, take care and have a great weekend.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm currently using Lysol's new Peroxide cleaner. It's not toxic like bleach and ammonia but I have wanted to try something all natural. And we eat a lot of oranges in my house so like you said....why not use the peels :-)
